
A worker at Carquest Auto Parts in Tuckahoe is accused of steeling more than $21,000 from the business, according to investigators. John Tabares-Durango, 22, now faces felony larceny charges.Â
Police say the 22-year-old scammed the money from the store over the period of about a year. Taberes-Durango would create fake returns andcredit the money to his debit card. The Elmsford man scammed more than $3,000 from Carquest using that particular technique. In addition,Taberes-Durango stole more than $17,000 in cash from the store bymaking fake returns.Â
Tuckahoe Police starting investigating the Elmsford man after a security manager at the chain store reported the thefts. Taberes-Durango is due back in court on May 28.
