Village Lutheran Church and The Chapel School Give Back
Members of Village Lutheran Church and families from The Chapel School partnered with the CSA Soup Kitchen in Mount Vernon.
Bronxville, NY- On Wednesday, October 14th members of Village Lutheran Church and families from The Chapel School partnered with the CSA Soup Kitchen in Mount Vernon to assist in feeding those in need. The CSA Soup Kitchen in Mount Vernon has re-opened to help serve the food-insecure in our area with "to go" packed meals.
“Many in our surrounding communities are going hungry,” stated a member of The Chapel School PTO. “This was our first time having people drop off cooked food and we set a goal of providing meals for eighty individuals,” stated Nelly Palumbo, VLC fellowship committee member. "It was a wonderful collaboration of school families, church members, teachers and staff."
While this seemed like a huge undertaking, nearly thirty two families participated, each signing up to provide a side dish, chicken or dessert. “We are so grateful to Lunch with Lou, who loaned us the containers and insulated coolers to help keep the food warm during transport.”

The school and church plan to provide a meal once a month. “We had such a great response and high energy during the drop off, we hope to build on that momentum next month and throughout the school year.”
The Chapel School is a place where service as a way of life is promoted to all students and families. Each year the school and church choose a theme for the year. This year the theme is “United in Hope.” “Every day, The Chapel School serves as a reminder of God’s new life through caring words and actions,” stated Mr. Michael Schultz, Principal.
