Village Lutheran Church & The Chapel School Make Easter Baskets

Bronxville, NY- During the month of March, members of Village Lutheran Church and families from The Chapel School participated in an annual service project for children. Families, faculty, staff and members of the community came together to create Easter baskets for MLK Children's Center for Learning Head Start in New Rochelle. Members of the church and school community were encouraged to pick up empty baskets in the sanctuary, fill with Easter treats (a list of suggested items was included), wrap in cellophane and return to the church for distribution. In total 86 baskets were donated, along with extra goodies and baskets to bring cheer and joy to the children. The baskets were picked up on March 25 to be distributed to the children of the Head Start program just in time for Easter.

“It is wonderful to be able to partner with the Head Start program and her families.” stated Senior Pastor Robert Hartwell. “I look forward to seeing the baskets going from empty to full and knowing how much the children will enjoy the baskets.” The church has participated in the service project for many years and is coordinated by Deacon Faith Forliano.

Village Lutheran Church & The Chapel School focus on service as a way of life. Community members participate in food collections for ECAP, a bi-monthly partnership with CSA Mount Vernon Soup Kitchen to prepare food for eighty people, monthly student led Service Learning projects and other outreach projects to help those in need throughout the school year.
