Westchester Mayor Tests Positive For Coronavirus Antibodies
Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano previously tested negative for the virus and was surprised with the latest results.

YONKERS, NY — The mayor of the largest city in Westchester County said he tested positive for antibodies linked to the new coronavirus. Mayor Mike Spano said he likely was infected with the virus but recovered from it.
Spano told the Journal News he tested negative for the coronavirus in mid-April but decided to take the antibody test last week.

He said he was shocked that the antibody test returned with a positive result after he had no symptoms.
Spano said he hoped he did not infect anyone, but now he plans on donating plasma that could be used to help coronavirus patients recover.

According to the most recent numbers provided by Westchester County, Yonkers has had 6,370 confirmed positive cases of the new coronavirus as of Thursday. Of that number, there are 797 active cases of the virus. Yonkers has a population of about 200,000.
