Yonkers Fire Displaces 13 Families, 15 Pets
A reception center was set up for the families at a community center.
A fire Sunday evening in Yonkers displaced 13 families and 15 pets. The fire broke out at 50 Gateway Road, according to the American Red Cross Metro New York.
Red Cross volunteers and staff opened up a reception center at the Charles A. Kola Community on Broadway in Yonkers.
Officials said the 22 adults and four children were offered a safe haven, dinner and the opportunity to meet with Red Cross case workers to plan their next steps.

Fifteen pets were also rescued, the Journal News said.
