The siblings lived with their elderly mother
YONKERS, NY — A Yonkers man is being held in custody after being accused of killing his sister Friday during a domestic argument. District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. said Jeffrey Hirschorn, 61, of Yonkers, was charged with second-degree murder, a felony.

The dispute escalated when, police said, Jeffrey Hirschorn took out a handgun and a struggle ensued.
Hirschorn pointed the gun at his sister and fire once, according to the authorities, striking her in the neck causing her death.
He stayed at the scene and police said they recovered an illegally possessed .38 caliber revolver.
The elderly mother was not harmed in the incident, but was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
Hirschorn will next appear in court July 22.
Scarpino said this was another tragedy where a family dispute turned fatal because a gun was in the mix.
"Another Westchester family has lost a loved one and we are saddened for them and the entire community," he said. "I remind everyone, if you believe a person may be in danger of hurting themselves or others and has access to guns, you can call your local police of my office to get help. The courts can direct police to remove those weapons using an Extreme Risk Protection Order under New York's Red Flag Law. Let us help you stay safe."
