Yonkers Man Indicted In Shooting Death Of His Sister
The siblings were living with their elderly mother when they had an argument which led to violence, police said.
YONKERS, NY — A Yonkers man was arraigned in the death of his sister during a family argument. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. said Wednesday that Jeffrey Hirschorn, 61, of Yonkers, was indicted by a grand jury for the fatal shooting of his sister outside their home in early July.
Hirschorn was arraigned on the following:
- Second-degree murder, a felony
- Two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, felonies
Hirschorn was remanded into custody, and his next court date is set for Sept. 30.

Authorities said Hirschorn and his sister, Leslie Hirschorn, 54, lived together with their elderly mother on Oakland Avenue in Yonkers.
Just after 6 p.m. July 3, they were having an argument while on the front lawn.

Police said the dispute escalated as Jeffrey Hirschorn produced a loaded Smith and Wesson .38 caliber revolver.
After a struggle, police said he pointed the handgun at his sister and fired once. Leslie Hirschorn was struck in the neck which resulted in her death.
Jeffrey Hirschorn remained at the scene, and police said they recovered an illegally possessed firearm.
The elderly mother was taken to a local hospital for evaluation; she was unharmed in the incident.
