Yonkers Police Investigating Death Of NYPD Officer
The preliminary investigation found manner of death appears self-inflicted in an apparent suicide.
YONKERS, NY — The Yonkers Police Department is investigating the death of a police officer with the New York City Police Department. Around 3 a.m. Tuesday, Yonkers police responded to a location on Shoreview Drive for a report of a suicide.
Officers found the person unresponsive. The person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicated no foul play, and, police said, the manner of death appears self-inflicted in an apparent suicide.

Detectives are continuing the investigation in collaboration with the Westchester County Medical Examiner.
No identification of the person has been released by the Yonkers Police Department.

According to the New York Post, the 35-year-old police officer died of self-inflicted wounds.
The officer was a seven-year veteran of the department who was temporarily working near Yankee Stadium, was off-duty and left behind a note, according to the Post and CNN.
