52 Affordable Apartments Up For Grabs On Coney Island

Building amenities include a sun terrace, fitness center, computer lounge and party rooms, city records show.

CONEY ISLAND, NEW YORK -- Dozens of apartments near the Coney Island boardwalk and the Brooklyn Cyclones stadium hit the affordable housing market Monday, city records show.

Fifty-two Surf Vets Place apartments at 3003 W. 21st St. will be available through the city's Mandatory Inclusionary Housing program until March 13, records show.

Half of the apartments are reserved for New York households earning 50 percent of the Area Median Income, between $27,395 and $60,500 annually, and half are for those earning 60 percent, or between $33,223 and $72,600.

Rents range between $759-per-month for a one-bedroom and up to $1,289-per-month for a three-bedroom.

Surf Vets Place was developed on a 170,000-square-foot plot on West 21st Street and Surf Avenue by Georgica Green Ventures and Concern for Independent Living, a New York City-based housing nonprofit, according to the New York Housing Conference.

The nine-story development also houses 82 studio apartments reserved for homeless veterans and 7,000 square feet of retail space, according to an NYHC listing.

Building amenities include a 24-hour attended lobby, sun terrace, fitness center, computer lounge and party rooms, according to city records.
