Alternate-Side Parking Suspended Ahead Of Winter Storm

The city will suspend alternate-side parking on Wednesday and Thursday ahead of the storm expected to drop 12 to 16 inches on the city.

NEW YORK CITY, NY — The city suspended alternate-side parking regulations on Wednesday and Thursday ahead of the upcoming winter storm that could drop a foot of snow, officials said.

The Department of Transportation announced they suspended the parking rules to help deal with cleanup from the storm starting on Tuesday night, which is expected to drop between 12 to 16 inches on the city.

Parking meters will still be in effect during those days so you'll still have to feed the meter, the DOT said.

Snow is expected to start around the city late Tuesday night, with the majority of it to come down on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. Ice could also accumulate on the ground and wind gusts can be as high as 41 miles per hour during, according to forecasts.
