NEW YORK CITY, NY — The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a "freeze warning" beginning at 8 p.m. Monday night, advising NYC residents of freezing temperatures that will grip the region through 10 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Government forecasters predicted a high chance of snow showers hitting NYC before 7 a.m. Monday, but expected the snow to turn to rain as the sun came up.

We'll be looking at a rainy forecast all day Monday. Then, as temps dip below freezing Monday night, the NWS said, all this precipitation will likely turn back to snow.

However, "little to no snow accumulation is expected," the NWS said.

Winds on Monday and Tuesday won't be quite as insane as the ones over the weekend, according to AccuWeather. But they'll still be hovering around 30 mph, the site's meteorologists said, and are expected to cause wind chill values between 15 and 25.

This will make Tuesday's temps, forecasted around 40 degrees, feel more like 32 degrees, according to AccuWeather. And Tuesday night, forecasted at 26, will feel more like 19 degrees.

After a "mostly sunny" Wednesday, NYC has another thunderstorm on the horizon for Thursday — but that one's expected to be much more mild.
