Doggy Casino And Pizza Run | Brooklyn This Weekend

Raise money for furry friends in need, take a run β€” and eat some pizza while you're at it.

BROOKLYN, NY β€” Are you into food fests, the outdoors or pizza? Brooklyn is where it's at this weekend. Here's a look at what's going on.

Chefs And Makers Pop Up
Neighborhood:
Stuyvesant Heights
What: A cocktail party with farm-to-table eats made with ingredients from New York City-based urban farmers and other local food producers. Chat with up-and-coming Brooklyn chefs and check out one of the borough’s β€œmost scenic” gardens while you enjoy live music and displays from local artists. Event proceeds will be donated to New York City’s youth and agricultural programs.
Where: Decatur Street between Patchen Avenue and Malcolm X Boulevard
When: Saturday at 11 a.m.

Compost Giveback
Neighborhood:
Gowanus
What: Receive up to 10 free bags of compost that you can use in tree pits, community gardens and more. Not available for commercial use. Click here to register.
Where: Gowanus Canal Conservancy Salt Lot Facility, Second Avenue at Fifth Street
When: Saturday at 11 a.m.

Brooklyn Queens Land Trust Annual Bike & Walking Tour
Neighborhood:
Bushwick
What: Explore the beauty of local community gardens, check out chickens and beehives up close and get a dose of nature during this guided walking and biking tour. The post-event reception will include Dominican eats and live music.
Where: Tour leaves from the Concerned Citizens of Grove Street Community Garden on Grove Street between Bushwick and Evergreen avenues. After party takes place at the People’s Garden, Green Avenue at Broadway.
When: Check in begins Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Tour starts at 2 p.m., with a 5 p.m. reception following the tour.

Wags to Riches Casino Fundraiser
Neighborhood:
Williamsburg
What: Try your luck at a variety of casino games as food and drinks are served and live music plays in the background. Event also includes prizes, a silent auction and even some puppies that are ready to play with all attendees. This fundraiser event will donate 95 percent of its proceeds to Positive Tails, a nonprofit organization that funds pet health care for families who cannot otherwise afford it.
Where: Salt Studios, South First Street between Wythe Avenue and Berry Street
When: The games begin Saturday at 7 p.m.

2018 NYC Pizza Run
Neighborhood:
Fort Greene
What: An all-ages fundraiser event where participants must complete a 5K run β€” and two slices of pizza. Registration fee includes an official NYC Pizza Run t-shirt, race bib, pizza slices, a pizza gift bag and a free drink at the pizza run after party. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Where: Fort Greene Park, Washington Park Street at Dekalb Avenue
When: Sunday at 11 a.m.

Taste Williamsburg Greenpoint
Neighborhood:
Williamsburg
What: The ninth annual outdoor food festival that celebrates the local flavors of northern Brooklyn, featuring a block party-style tasting event with samples from more than 40 neighborhood bars, eateries, breweries, wineries and more.
Where: East River State Park, Kent Avenue between North Seventh and North 10th streets
When: Sunday at 1 p.m.
