Driver Caught Using Fake Passenger In Brooklyn HOV Lane, Cops Say

Police found a dummy dressed in a sweatshirt and shades buckled into the backseat of a car in a High Occupancy Vehicle lane this week.

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK — What a dummy. Police nabbed a driver in a Brooklyn HOV lane for dressing a mannequin up to look like his passenger and sticking him in the back seat.

"We appreciate the creativity," the NYPD wrote on Twitter. "But you still get a ticket."

A photo of the dummy shows he was decked out in jeans, a sweatshirt and shades.

Police stopped the driver near the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge and the Gowanus Expressway ramp Tuesday morning, according to the New York Post.

The driver received a ticket for traveling in high-occupancy vehicle lanes without the required number of passengers.
