THE MALCOLM X COMMEMORATION COMMITTEE RESPONDS TO THE GEORGE FLOYD VERDICT
The spectacle killing of George Floyd on May 25th, 2020 gave us an African Liberation Day like no other!
From Boston to Buenos Aires, from London to Los Angeles, it unleashed a global avalanche of human outrage of people in the millions from all backgrounds that was overwhelmingly led by a new generation of young Black women!
Today, in a Minneapolis courtroom, it made a difference...For Floyd’s family, for Black and Brown families all over the world.
We must be clear, however, that there is something horrifically wrong that requires people to have go to such lengths to hold one abusive racist police officer accountable.
Just recently as a part of the International Decade of People of African Descent, there was an International Tribunal on Police Violence in the US on African Descendants. This Tribunal documented to the voluminous detail just how pervasive the George Floyds are in the United States. It is nearly as pervasive as was the hated Domestic Slave Trade was that ultimately tore this country apart, and that is just the United States.
This is not a broken system. This is a system built to break and maim our people. The time has come to break this system up!
We proudly and duly note how protest exploded throughout the Diaspora, throughout the 6th Department, wherever Black people have been taken away from Africa as a consequence of the epic colossal crime against humanity that was the TransAtlantic Slave Trade. Our people stood up in that long hot summer moment to protest racist police abuse right where they are throughout Latin America and Europe.
We urge our people to continue to stand together and push for our rightful claim for Reparations, unapologetically, proudly, seeking a healing and justice that no dollar amount can produce, or pay for, no matter the scale of obscene wealth of global capitalism. We push for Reparations Now in ways that make systematic differences wherever we are in the world!
We also say to our people in the United States, let us remember some incredible brave warriors for justice from our golden age of struggle that was the 1960s who should not be forgotten in this historic moment, our unsung political prisoners...like Russell Maroon Shoatz in prison for 49 years, Ed Poindexter in prison now for 50 years, Sundiata Acoli in prison now for 48 years, Mumia Abu Jamal in prison now for 40 years, Dr Mutulu Shakur in prison now for 36 years, Imam Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin in prison for 22 years, Kamau Sadiku in prison now for 20 years, and there are more!...
In the interests of justice, as a first necessary prerequisite for our Reparations, let us demand their unconditional release from prison now!...
Let us continue to build that bold national and international PanAfrican united front!
Unity Matters!
May Chickens Continue to Come Home To Roost!
Our struggle is for Human Rights...
Reparations Now...By Any Means Necessary
