McDonald's Brings Szechuan Sauce Back To NYC Next Week

The company's previous introduction of the sauce was disastrous.

BROOKLYN, NY — McDonald's will bring back its Szechuan Sauce to all New York City locations on Monday after a disastrous attempt to introduce it in October led to stocks running out and packets being sold on eBay.

The fast-food restaurant promised to share 20 million packets of the dipping sauce, made famous on the cartoon "Rick and Morty," among every location around the country Monday, including the hundreds of spots around the borough, McDonald's announced.

Customers who buy certain items, like "Buttermilk Crispy Tenders," will get a packet of the sauce which the chain notes tastes "slightly sweet," with "hints of soy, ginger and slight vinegar notes."

McDonald's first brought back the condiment in a limited run to select locations for a day in October last year after it became popular with fans of "Rick and Morty." Supplies quickly sold out, leaving lines of fans wanting it.

The company quickly apologized for the mess and even produced a podcast to coincide with its recent return to "get to the bottom of what happened."
