MTA Fare Hikes: What To Expect When Buying Subway Cards This Week
Here are the deep dives that await your checkbook.

BROOKLYN, NY — Before you go to the MTA purchasing vestibules this week, make sure you know the elevated prices that await you.
This week is the first week of 2017 that commuters will be experiencing a fare hike. While one-way tickets for subways and local buses are the same at $2.75, the seven-day MetroCard unlimited went from $31 to $32, and the 30-day unlimited went from $116.50 to $121.
Dozens of advocates protested in front of Barclays Center on Sunday for the mayor to award half-priced MetroCards to low-income New Yorkers, Pix11 reported. The mayor's office responded that MTA coverage should be the responsibility of the governor.
