NEW YORK CITY — Hundreds of Patch readers voted and the results are in: The worst subway line in New York City is the A/C/E line.

The A/C/E line trounced the 4/5/6 line last week, claiming two-thirds of the votes in our third round of our March Madness bracket-style competition to name the worst train in New York.

While 4/5/6 riders fought valiantly for the right to claim the worst subway ride — "I don't deserve to be a FREAKING SARDINE, " one straphanger noted — ultimately hundreds of A/C/E riders united and claimed victory with tales of feces-smeared seats and performers who often offer "the opportunity to be kicked in the face."

"I had a guy yell at me for talking to my wife seated next to me," wrote one reader. "The whole thing was ridiculous."

"The 'A/C/E' just has a hint of impending death that others don't," added another. "No one does it like the "A/C/E."
