NYC Subway Delays: 10 Lines Messed Up For Morning Commute

Signal and switch problems and issues with passengers affected Monday morning travel.

BROOKLYN, NY — A signal problem in Boerum Hill screwed up Monday morning commutes on two subway lines after briefly halting G service. The MTA warned of "major delays" on the F and G lines because of the issue at Bergen Street, the MTA said.

The problem had suspended G train service between Bedford-Nostrand and Church Avenue and rerouted F trains between West Fourth Street and Coney Island. N trains were also delayed after the incident, according to the MTA.

The MTA suggested straphangers consider taking the B, Q, 2 or 5 trains or the B35, B38, B67 and B69 buses as alternatives.

Commutes on 2, 3, 4 and 5 trains were also delayed because of switch problems in The Bronx and an unauthorized person on the tracks at 14th Street, the transit agency said.

Those issues caused northbound service changes — 5 trains were stopping on the 4 line from 138th Street-Grand Concourse to Burnside Avenue, while some 2 trains were stopping along the 3 line from 135th Street to Harlem-148th Street, the MTA said.

Additionally, some 2 trains were stopping along the 1 line from 96th Street to 137th Street-City College, according to the MTA.

Separately, Jamaica-bound E and F trains were forced to run express from Forest Hills-71st Avenue to Kew Gardens-Union Turnpike because of someone needing medical assistance at 75th Avenue, the MTA said.

And A trains were running with delays after an incident with a sick customer at Utica Avenue, the MTA said.
