NYC Weather: Dangerous Flash Flooding Threatens Brooklyn, Queens
The National Weather service has issued a flash flood warning for parts of Brooklyn and Queens amid slow moving heavy showers.

BROOKLYN, NY — The National Weather Service is warning of flash flooding in parts of Brooklyn and Queens as the city gets pounded with heavy rain from thunderstorms. Up to an inch of rain has already fallen, the agency said in its warning just after 1 p.m. Sunday. Flash flooding was expected to begin shortly thereafter. The warning will remain in effect until 3 p.m.
Locations that will see flooding include Rockaway Beach, Kennedy Airport, Canarsie and Howard Beach. The agency warns drivers "turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
The flash flood warning follows a hazardous weather outlook issued for the entire city and parts of southern Connecticut. The NWS forecasted scattered, slow moving heavy showers and thunderstorms for the region Sunday, bringing up to to 2 inches of rain an hour. Flash flooding could happen Sunday afternoon into early evening.
