BROOKLYN, NY — Whether you're into boats, dogs, ice cream or even emojis, Brooklyn has something for you this weekend. Here's what's going on.
Emojicon BK 2018
Neighborhood: Gowanus
What: Brooklyn’s second Emojicon includes a conference discussion on the evolving role of emojis in online culture and branding. Get a behind-the-scenes look at how industry designers create emojis. Emoji-themed games, food, art and design will also be available. An emoji party will close out this all-day event.
Where: The Bell House, Seventh Street between Second and Third avenues
When: Conference and art gallery open Saturday at 10 a.m. Emoji party doors open at 6 p.m.
Brooklyn City of Water Day
Neighborhood: Canarsie
What: Explore the Paerdegat Basin during this free, family-friendly festival. Row out in a barge after an on-land boating lesson, then finish off with some free food upon reaching dry land.
Where: Paerdegat Avenue North at Paerdegat 10th Street
When: Shove off on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Fade to Black Metallica Tribute
Neighborhood: Williamsburg
What: Metallica tribute band Fade to Black teams up with Flannel - A Grungy '90s Revival for a night of shreddage you won’t want to miss.
Where: Knitting Factory, Metropolitan Avenue at Havemeyer Street
When: The headbanging begins at 7 p.m. Saturday
World Cup Final Screening
Neighborhood: East Williamsburg
What: Watch France and Croatia battle it out for the World Cup title on an enormous 30-by-18-foot screen. Drink specials will be offered during the game. Free admission with RSVP.
Where: Elsewhere, Johnson Avenue between Gardner and Scott avenues
When: Doors open Sunday at 10 a.m. for an 11 a.m. kickoff

Puppies n' Pints
Neighborhood: Coney Island
What: Cuddle with rescue pooches up for adoption and snap a photo in the puppy photo booth to support Rescue City Shelters. Suggested donation is $10 at the door. RSVPs may be closed, but event organizers say everyone who has not yet registered is still welcome to attend.
Where: Coney Island Brewery, Surf Avenue at West 16th Street
When: The puppy love begins Sunday at 12 p.m.
In Good Company Sustainable Fair
Neighborhood: Dumbo
What: An all-day festival with workshops, lectures, shopping and live music. This is “not just a sustainable fair but a sharing platform, with a supportive community of makers, buyers, and producers with a shared vision.”
Where: The Dumbo Loft, Water Street between Pearl Street and Anchorage Place
When: Start your journey to sustainability Sunday at 12 p.m. Lectures run from 12 to 2 p.m.
Johnny Cupcakes x Snowdays Brooklyn National Ice Cream Day Pop-Up
Neighborhood: Park Slope
What: The world’s first t-shirt bakery teams up with Snowdays shaved ice to celebrate National Ice Cream Day. Check out pastry-themed merch and chow down on some delicious ice cream at this exclusive, one-day-only event.

When: The gates to ice cream heaven open Sunday at 12 p.m.
