ENRICHMENT NOTES:

7/9/20
Subdued at the back of his kennel, hisses when opening his door, but will tolerate petting on his head and body with a scracther. Remains mostly focused on the assessor, but also seems wary of environment. Gave him hiding spot and left him alone.

7/10/20
Subdued at the back of his kennel upon approach, remains frozen as the assessor pets him on his head and body with a scratcher. Also allows petting by hand, but seems to flinch a little when doing so. Didn't eat any tuna or treats that were offered.

7/13/20
Comes to the front and watches me, curious. Starts to rub against the door to solicit attention when coaxed, but backs away and is hesitant of touch when the door opens. Sniffs my hand and pushes up against it when contact is made, but will also retreat after. Seems unsure, but eats treats offered and slowly starts warming up. Will lean into pets and continues to rub against me. Has potential!

CHARACTER TYPE:

Independent

POTENTIAL CHALLENGES:

BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:
Level 3

RECOMMENDATIONS:

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:
Sara has been distant and uncomfortable during her stay in our care centers. During his assessment, he is subdued at the back of his kennel with his ears tilted flat towards the side. He will remain frozen when opening his kennel, and when pet by the assessor. He tolerates petting on his head and body, while slowly moving his head to watch.

Sara tolerates attention and petting but appears fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
