NEW YORK CITY, NY — Just when you were starting to get used to sandal weather, a set of possible thunderstorms and flash floods have decided to make their merry way to NYC for the first weekend of June, the National Weather Service announced Friday in a "hazardous weather outlook" for the region.

Saturday is actually expected to be rather nice — or, at least, only "mostly cloudy" — with a very slight chance of rain after 2 p.m.

Sunday is a different story.

"There is a potential for strong to severe thunderstorms and flash flooding on Sunday, mainly in the afternoon and evening," the NWS said. "Showers and thunderstorms could produce heavy rain with maximum hourly rainful rates approaching 1 inch per hour."

And "if these heavier showers and thunderstorms move over the same locations," weather officials warned, "flash flooding of urban, low-lying and poor drainage areas would be possible."

Wind gusts during the thunderstorms could reach nearly 60 mph, according to government forecasters.

AccuWeather, for its part, is predicting the storms could get "rather volatile" (LOL), with heavy winds leading to "tree and power line damage, hail and torrential downpours."

And throughout all this mayhem, we've got expected temps in the upper 70s and lower 80s.
