SNL Star Pete Davidson Films Movie At Staten Island Yankees Game

NEW YORK CITY — Director Judd Apatow and SNL star Pete Davidson popped up at a minor league baseball game to film their movie about Davidson's dad, a Brooklyn firefighter who lost his life during 9/11.

Staten Island Yankee fans found themselves in the backdrop of Apatow's and Davidson's untitled project — reportedly about Davidson's life and his relationship with the father he lost during the terrorist attack — on Friday night, said game-goer James Hoffman.

The crowd watched as the film cameras moved about the bleachers and Davidson whipped off his shirt to show them his tattoos, Hoffman told Patch.

"He looked like a Russian gangster," Hoffman said.

Comedian Bill Burr was also spotted in the bleachers, whom IMDB shows will be starring in the movie along with Marisa Tomei and Steve Buscemi.

The Saturday Night Live comedian's father was Scott Matthew Davidson, an all-star baseball player in Staten Island's Great Kills Little League and an FDNY captain with Brooklyn Height's Ladder Company 118‚ according to his National Fallen Firefighters Foundation obituary.

He died responding to the second hijacker to strike the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, when his son Pete was just seven years old.

"He loved his children above all things," the obituary reads. "He was very proud of them‚ and he was happiest while coaching them‚ having a catch or watching a dance recital."

This isn't the first time the Saturday Night Live star has drawn comedic inspiration from his dad's story. Davidson did an (explicit) stand-up routine in 2018 about how he experienced the loss as a kid and wore a Brooklyn Ladder 118 t-shirt.

The New York Post reports the film cast and crew have been spotted across Staten Island this summer, filming the movie scheduled to be released in 2020.
