191 New Affordable Units Now Taking Applications in New Lots

NEW LOTS, BROOKLYN — A total of 191 new affordable housing units in New Lots will be accepting applications until Sep. 27.

The units are part of a group of buildings collectively making up the Stanley Commons complex. The buildings are located at 656 Stanley Ave., 869 and 879 Van Siclen Ave., 271 Wortman Ave., and 910 and 924 Hendrix Pl.

There's a detailed description of the apartments available online, but here's a quick breakdown:

• 1 studio is available for $788 per month for one person making $28,355 - $38,100 annually
• 102 one-bedroom units are available for $847 per month for one or two people collectively making $30,412 - $43,500 annually
• 1 two-bedroom units is available for $836 per month for 2-4 people collectively making $30,069 - $45,300 annually
• 77 two-bedroom units are available for $1,025 per month for 2-4 people collectively making $36,549 - $54,360 annually
• 2 three-bedroom units are available for $963 per month for 3-6 people collectively making $34,869 - $52,550 annually
• 8 three-bedroom units are available for $1,182 per month for 3-6 people collectively making $42,378 - $63,060 annually

The complex's amenities include a laundry room (for an additional fee), a community room, a courtyard, parking spaces and a play area.

Residents of Brooklyn's Community Board 5 will be given preference when filling half of the units. NYCHA residents will be given preference when filling 25 percent of the units. Seven percent of the units will be set aside for those with physical, vision or hearing disabilities. Municipal employees are also encouraged to apply.
