$426-A-Month Brooklyn Apartments Hit Housing Lotto
More than 140 new apartments, some going for less than $500-a-month, are up for grabs near Spring Creek Park.

EAST NEW YORK, BROOKLYN — More than 140 affordable apartments, some going for as little as $426-a-month, hit the New York City housing lottery this week, city records show.
New Yorkers have until June 17 to apply for one of 143 new apartments at Nehemiah Spring Creek, a new housing development at 475-510 Vandalia Ave. in East New York, according to a new listing on NYC Housing Connect.
There are four studios, 17 one-bedrooms, 116 two-bedrooms and six three-bedrooms up for grabs for people who make between 30% and 90% of the Annual Median Income.

Salary requirements for single people range from a $16,629 minimum annual salary for a $426-a-month one-bedroom to a maximum $65,790 annual salary for a $1,375-a-month one bedroom.

These properties comes as the fourth stage in Nehemiah Spring Creek's development, first launched in 2008, which will bring 1,525 affordable homes to the region between Starrett City, the Gateway Center Shopping Mall and Howard Beach.
Nehemiah HDFC, run by the nonprofit East Brooklyn Congregations, and Monadnock Development collaborated on the Spring Creek site which will include three parks, a supermarket, an EMS station, and an Educational Campus, which opened in September 2012.
