Brooklyn Borough President Calls For Free Metro Transfers
"We began our call for a station connector between the Livonia Avenue and Junius Street stations in 2015.
February 12, 2020
“We began our call for a station connector between the Livonia Avenue and Junius Street stations in 2015, and we’ve been relentless in our advocacy over the years to end the double fare because we know that this is a matter of transit equity. The commuters of Brownsville, East New York, and surrounding areas will no longer have to contend with the inherent unfairness of a double fare in adjoining stations. We want to thank the MTA for finally heeding our call, and the calls of advocates and commuters who made this possible.

“But let’s not rest on our laurels. There are several other similarly adjoining stations throughout Brooklyn and the city where we should immediately explore the possibility of free transfers. I look forward to working with the MTA and commuters in continuing the fight for transit equity here in Brooklyn and throughout the five boroughs.”
