Brownsville Murder With TV Set: Man Sentenced
East NY man Delvin Garcia, 31, got 18 years in prison for bludgeoning a man with a television set and the man's own crutch.

BROWNSVILLE, BROOKLYN — East New York man Delvin Garcia received a sentence of 18 years in prison and five years' post-release supervision for repeatedly bludgeoning a 26-year-old man with a television set and the man's own crutch (that he was using at the time) until he died inside his Brownsville apartment, the Brooklyn District Attorney's office said.
"This defendant, who attacked the victim in his own home and left him to die, deserves to spend many years in prison for taking a young man's life," said Acting District Attorney Eric Gonzalez.

Freeman's girlfriend found his bloodied dead body inside their apartment on Saint Marks Avenue on the afternoon of Sept. 2, 2014, according to the evidence. The cause of death was found to be blunt trauma to the head. Investigators found that the fingerprint on the blood-stained television set matched Garcia's print. Freeman's girlfriend also told investigators she had seen Garcia riding his bike outside just before she left the apartment around two hours before she discovered the body, the Brooklyn DA's office said. Garcia, 31, pled guilty to first-degree manslaughter on Jan. 30, 2016.
