Brownsville Old Timers Day Mass Shooting Suspect Arrested: Police

Kyle Williams, 20, was arrested in connection with a July mass shooting at a block party in Brownsville, police said.

BROWNSVILLE, BROOKLYN — A gunman who shot 11 and killed one when he opened fire at a block party in July was arrested on Wednesday, police said.

The suspect, Kyle Williams, 20, was arrested and charged for the July 27 mass shooting at the Old Timers Day event in Brownsville, said police. Williams, a Brownsville resident, was charged with second-degree murder for the killing of 38-year-old Jason Pagan, criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment and attempted murder, according to the NYPD.

NYPD Chief Dermot Shea late Wednesday night announced that Williams had been arrested.

"After an extensive investigation by the hardworking men and women of BN Detectives, the 73 Squad and countless other NYPD units, we arrested Kyle Williams M/20 for Murder and others charges related to 12 people shot on July 27," he said on Twitter.

The arrest comes after police had been searching for a suspect who late on a Saturday night shot seven men and five women at Brownsville Playground during the yearly block party. The NYPD earlier this month offered $20,000 for tips about the shooting.

Williams on Wednesday was put in custody at the 73rd Precinct, the New York Post reported. He is expected to be charged on Thursday in criminal court, according to The New York Times.
