Cops Seek Car Thief Who Drove Off With 6-Year-Old Boy
The car and child, who was not hurt, were found about two hours after the car was stolen, according to police.

CANARSIE, BROOKLYN — Police are searching for a man who on Monday stole a car with a child in it.
A unidentified man in Canarsie drove off in an SUV that had a 6-year-old boy sitting in the back seat of it, police said. The car and the boy, Ronald Mowatt, were found about two hours later, NYPD Chief Dermot Shea announced on Twitter.
A 28-year-old left a 2007 Acura SUV running at about at 1:15 p.m., and went into a plumbing supply store at 9612 Ave. L while Mowatt remained in the car, according to the NYPD. The suspect, who is wanted for grand larceny of a vehicle, then hopped in the car and drove it west on Avenue L with the 6-year-old still in the back seat, police said.

Mowatt, who was not harmed during the incident, was found in the car in East New York at Linden Boulevard and Georgia Avenue— about a 10-minute drive from the store where the car was stolen. The child was taken to Brookdale Hospital.
