Emergency responders transported Seneca to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the NYPD.

Seneca was found shot in Apartment 4B, next to his apartment, 4A. A police source told Patch that the victim had been staying in 4B after facing eviction from his home, but it remained unclear whether the occupant of 4B was connected to Seneca's death.

There had been no arrests made as of Thursday morning, and the investigation was ongoing, police said.

At a briefing this week, NYPD operations chief Dermot Shea said that domestic crimes were up 2-3 percent so far this year. He also said that the NYPD had driven "a lot of crime indoors," adding that the number of shootings inside homes or businesses had increased by 20 incidents so far in 2016.

The number of people shot within the 75th Precinct, where Seneca was killed, is down this year compared to last. According to official police statistics, through the end of September, the number of shooting victims within the precinct had dropped 36 percent compared to last year.
