ESPN Site Urges Photographers Of Color To Apply
ESPN's The Undefeated news site is looking for photographers of color nationally who have at least 3 years of experience.

EAST NEW YORK, BROOKLYN — ESPN's senior photo editor of The Undefeated news site, Brent Lewis, is looking for photographers of color to join his team. ARTs East New York posted the Google request for photographers of color on its Facebook page to a lot of local interest. The Undefeated is looking for photographers from the U.S. with at least three years of experience, Lewis wrote.
The post says:
The goal is to share this information with editors from news outlets and magazines to encourage them to employ a more diverse range of contract photographers than the usual suspects," the post says. "The idea stemmed from a Facebook conversation around why only two outlets hired African American photographers to cover the AFROPUNK festival while the rest were the usual suspects. We went back and forward about why couldn't outlets find the amazing photographers who were also of some racial background that wasn't white. It came down to time and not knowing where to look. Enter the idea of Photographers of Color. Running along the lines of WomenPhotograph.com, there will be a website hosting links to portfolios as well as a spreadsheet that will make it easier for photo editors to hire outside their regular list of go to photographers.
