New Affordable Housing Complex Designed By Renowned Architect Approved By City Planning Commission
Edwin's Place, a 125-apartment complex designed by Robert A. M. Stern, was approved by the City Planning Commission Wednesday.

BROWNSVILLE, BROOKLYN — An affordable housing complex designed by an internationally renowned architect is one step closer to being built in Brownsville.
Robert A. M. Stern — an architect whose luxury buildings can be found in London, Paris, Rio de Janeiro and on the Upper East Side — has designed a 125-unit development to be built at 3 Livonia Ave. which was approved by the City Planning Commission on Wednesday.
Edwin’s Place, as the development is called, will provide 125 new apartments for homeless and low-income families in an eight-story building with 69 one-, two-, and three-bedroom units and 56 studios.

Edwin’s Place is the result of a collaboration between Breaking Ground, a nonprofit that promotes supportive housing, and the African American Planning Commission, Inc.
The proposal must be voted on by City Council before Edwin's Place can be built, but with support from the City Planning Commission, Brooklyn Community Board 16, and Borough President Eric Adams, the chances of approval are more than good.
