Police-Involved Shooting Reported In Brownsville, NYPD Says

The NYPD responded to a police-involved shooting Friday evening at Mother Gaston Boulevard and Sutter Avenue.

NEW YORK — Cops responded to a police-involved shooting in Brownsville Friday evening, the NYPD said. The gunfire happened at about 5:40 p.m. near the corner of Mother Gaston Boulevard and Sutter Avenue, according to a police spokesperson.

Police could not immediately say who had been shot. But news reports say a cop shot a man in the head after the man hit him in the face with a chair.

The NYPD urged people to avoid the area and expect to see emergency vehicles and traffic nearby.

New York City cops have shot four other people in the last two weeks. The most recent victim was a naked man armed with a gun whom police shot to death in Harlem early Wednesday morning.

An officer in The Bronx fatally shot a man who drove away as the cop clung to his car Oct. 17 — about two days after police shootings in Brooklyn and The Bronx left one man dead and another wounded.
