Police Shoot Suspect in Brownsville, Gun Recovered
An NYPD officer shot a suspect in the leg late on Friday night near Sutter Avenue and Howard Avenue.

BROWNSVILLE, NY — A suspect was shot in the leg by police late on Friday night, and three NYPD officers were taken to the hospital as a precaution, according to police.
The incident happened at about 11 p.m. when a man was struck in the leg by one bullet fired by police officers near Sutter Avenue and Howard Avenue in northwest Brownsville. Three officers from the Brooklyn North Gang Squad observed a black Lexus pull up to a crowd of people, police said. When a man exited the vehicle with a gun, the officers stepped in and told the suspect not to move. But instead, police say, the man turned and fired on officers. The three officers returned fire, striking the suspect in the left leg, police said.
The suspect was taken to Brookdale Hospital in stable condition. A hand gun was recovered on the scene, police said.

Police have charged Kowon Davis, 44, from the Bronx, with criminal possession of a weapon and menacing a police officer in the incident.
Three police officers were taken to Jamaica Hospital for precautionary measures, police said. None of them were struck by gunfire.
