Revealed! East New York's Most Uniquely Popular Dog Names

EAST NEW YORK, BROOKLYN — While the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene cannot seem to find time to compile a comprehensive database of lead levels in public-housing tap water (or even an incomprehensive one), it did find time, this week, to draw up an interactive map of New York City's most uniquely popular dog names, neighborhood by neighborhood, based on the city's database of licensed dogs.
And because of this noble, taxpayer-funded effort, we now know that the most uniquely popular dog names in East New York are Storm, Chanel and Brooklyn.

(Storm east of Pennsylvania Avenue, Chanel west of Pennsylvania Avenue and Brooklyn up in Cypress Hills, to be exact.)
There are 76 dogs in NYC with the name Storm; 66 with the name Chanel; and 194 with the name Brooklyn, according to the database.

Here's what makes these the most "uniquely popular" names in the neighborhood:
While the name Storm is ranked 217th in popularity citywide, it's the 12th most common dog name in eastern East New York. While the name Chanel is ranked 277th citywide, it's ranked 3rd in western East New York. And while the name Brooklyn is ranked 71st citywide, it's ranked 2nd in Cypress Hills.
