Suspect in Custody After Shooting Near Frederick Douglass Academy in Brownsville: NYPD
The police said their ShotSpotter system detected gunfire in the vicinity of the school and one person was in custody.

BROWNSVILLE, NY — One suspect is in custody following an afternoon shooting in the vicinity of Frederick Douglass Academy VII in Brownsville, police said. No one was injured in the shooting.
According to police, their ShotSpotter technology triggered an alert that a shooting took place about 3 p.m. on Wednesday "in the vicinity" of the school. The shooting did not take place on campus, an NYPD spokesman said. One suspect was taken into custody in connection with the shooting, police said.
The high school is located at 226 Bristol St. between Sutter Avenue and Black Avenue and has just over 200 students.
