Video: Elderly Woman Robbed of Jewelry in Brownsville Playground

BROWNSVILLE, BROOKLYN — An elderly woman was robbed of her gold jewelry by an unidentified male suspect (in the video below) while walking in a Brownsville playground last week, according to the New York City Police Department (NYPD).

The 67-year-old female victim was walking inside Osborne playground located at the rear of 985 Rockaway Avenue, Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 12:20 p.m., when the male suspect approached the victim and "then snatched her gold chain from around her neck, which had a pendant with the name 'Isabel,'" the NYPD said.

The victim was not injured, and the suspect fled on foot heading westbound on Linden Boulevard, police said.

The suspect is described as an approximately 30-year-old male, standing five-foot-six-inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, with a medium complexion, short black hair and dark eyes, NYPD said.

The suspect was last seen wearing a baseball hat, a red t-shirt and blue jeans, police said.

The robbery described above took place in the NYPD's 73rd Precinct, which patrols Brownsville. According to official police statistics, through mid-September, grand larceny in the 73rd was down 29 percent compared to the same time period last year.
