East New York Walking Tour Will Highlight Neighborhood Gems

EAST NEW YORK, BROOKLYN — A Saturday walking tour will celebrate some of East new York's most historic properties.

The June 4 event is being put on by the community group Preserving East New York.

It's part of a day of similar neighborhood tours (known as "Six to Celebrate") organized by the Historic Districts Council, which advocates for the preservation of local landmarks.

The East New York tour will start at 10 a.m., and will be led by Farrah Lafontant, a long-time East New York resident and a staffer with the Brooklyn Arts Council.

According to The Brooklyn Reader, the tour will include stops at the Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church and the former Empire State Dairy complex, among other sites.

Registration costs $20 for adults and $10 for seniors.
