This Is The Worst Online Grocery Store In NYC

You voted. We counted. Find out which online grocery store New Yorkers hate the most.

NEW YORK CITY — The votes are in and we have a winner for the worst online grocery store in New York City.

Patch asked you to pick which of four websites — Peapod, FreshDirect, Amazon Fresh or Jet — sent you the most banged-up boxes of rotten food in all the five boroughs.

Patch readers from across New York City answered the call and one winner squeaked by with just 28 percent of the vote.

“FreshDirect, not fresh or direct,” wrote one disgruntled voter. “This is actually a very poorly run business that has received hundreds of millions from NYC and NYS to keep its crappie biz here.”

“They could care less about the assigned window of time,” opined another voter. “FD has improperly packed and therefore my delivery has leaked all over.”

Peapod came in at a close second with 26 percent of the vote, Amazon Fresh came in third with 25 percent and Jet.com snagged only 21 percent.

This victory means FreshDirect will face off against Food Bazaar, Dean & Deluca and Gristedes — which you named the worst discount grocery store, the worst pricey grocery store and the worst chain grocery store — in Patch's contest to name the worst grocery store in all of the city.

Next week, we’ll pit the four winners against each other for the chance to win the title of Worst Grocery store in NYC.

More info on that challenge to come Monday, so stay tuned.
