One of everyone's favorite fall activities has always been apple picking and lucky for all of us the season for it has arrived. Apple orchards provide all sorts of activities for fall fun, so it's important to know which ones give you the most bang for your buck.

Taking a day off and heading out to an orchard to pick some fresh fruit is always fun. If you're in the Buffalo area this time of year and are unsure of where to pick apples, Patch has you covered.

Below, you can find some of the best orchards in the Buffalo area for you to enjoy.

Do not forget to call the orchard ahead of time to ensure the produce you are looking for is available and the exact hours they are open.

Murphy Orchards

• 2402 McClew Road in Burt.
• Open daily from 9:00 AM-4:00 PM
• Apple picking season at Murphy Orchards began in August and, depending on growth, will continue through October.

Blackman Homestead Farm

• 4472 Thrall Road in Lockport.
• Open daily from 9:00 AM-6:00 PM
• Apple picking season at Blackman begins on September 15th and will run through October 31st.

Becker Farms

• 3724 Quaker Road in Gasport.
• Open daily from 10:00 AM-5:00 PM
• Picking times are subject to weather and availability of fruit. Be sure to call ahead to make sure the fruit you want is ready to be picked.

Hurd Orchards

• 17260 Ridge Road in Holley.
• Open Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00 AM-5:00 PM
• Hurd grows a large variety of apples throughout the season, be sure to call the orchard ahead of time to confirm the type of apple you're looking for is available.
