Mayor Brown Announces Important Updates To Buffalo's Response To The Coronavirus Emergency
The indoor pools have been closed since March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Buffalo, NY – Mayor Byron W. Brown today announced the Cazenovia Connors, Kait, Harrity Memorial Pool and Lovejoy pools will reopen for lap swimming starting Monday, May 17th. The indoor pools have been closed since March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"It is exciting to reopen our two indoor pools, soon to be joined by all of City of Buffalo park splashpads for Memorial Weekend, as they provide such an important amenity to our seniors and youth. Parks looks forward to a safe and fun summer season," said Andy Rabb, Deputy Commissioner, Parks & Recreation.
Swimmers will be required to make a reservation and the total number of swimmers in each pool will be restricted in accordance with COVID safety guidelines. Pool capacity will be limited to two swimmers per lane.

Both pools will be open Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

The dome of City Hall and many downtown Buffalo buildings will be lit in blue tonight in honor of fallen Buffalo Police Officers. The virtual candlelight vigil is part of the observance of National Police Week, which runs from May 9 – 12.

The Buffalo Urban Renewal Agency is urging residents and business to take the quick, online Broadband and Internet Access and Adoption Survey to help improve citywide access to affordable, reliable connectivity.
The survey is part of a larger study on broadband and internet infrastructure, access, and adoption in the City. The survey can be accessed at www.buffalobroadband.com.
Mayor Brown Urges Buffalo Residents to Roll Up their Sleeves to Help ConnectLife Ease its Blood Emergency
ConnectLife, the primary supplier of blood for Buffalo and Western New York, has declared a blood emergency, with its blood supply at dangerously low levels.
A 20 percent increase in hospital utilization of blood due to traumas and surgeries which has led to a destabilization of supply. ConnectLife currently has less than a one-day supply of type O blood, and a 2-day supply of all other blood types.
ConnectLife supplies blood to major health systems and hospitals in Buffalo, WNY and Pennsylvania, including: Kaleida Health, ECMC, Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, Eastern Niagara Health, Wyoming County Community Health System, Olean General Hospital, Brooks-TLC Health System, and the Bradford Regional Medical Center.
