$100K Income Needed To Apply For 'Affordable' Bushwick Apartments

Can you afford the affordable apartments at 690 Bushwick Ave?

BUSHWICK, BROOKLYN — A new batch of “affordable” apartments hit the Bushwick housing market and all you need is a $100,000 annual income to apply.

Six apartments at 690 Bushwick Ave. will be up for grabs on the NYC Housing Connect website until March 27, but are available only to applicants who earn roughly between $70,000 and $135,000 per year, city records show.

Three one-bedrooms with a monthly rent of $1,984 are available to either a single person earning between $68,023 and $86,840 or two people with a combined income of $95,500.

And three two-bedroom apartments with a monthly rent of $2,394 are available to groups of two, three or four people who earn between $82,080 and $134,030 a year.

Joel Kaufman is the owner of the the newly built six-story apartment complex, which houses 20 apartments in 14,274 square feet, city records show.

The NYC Housing Connect listing does not include information about amenities, but notes the building is within walking distance of the J, M and Z train station at Myrtle Avenue and the L train station at Morgan Avenue.
