Falling Fence Kills Bushwick 5-Year-Old, Police Say
A 5-year-old girl was hit by a piece of decorative fence on Harman Street Thursday night, police said.
BUSHWICK, BROOKLYN — A 5-year-old girl died when a fence fell on top of her in Bushwick Thursday night, police said.
Alysson Pinto-Chaumana was killed while walking with her mother on Harman Street between St. Nicholas and Wyckoff avenues about 9 p.m. Thursday, police said.
The Bushwick girl pulled on a decorative fence at 444 Harman St. and was suddenly hit by a piece of that fell off, according to police.

“It took a second,” Maria Chagmana told the New York Post. “I looked to the street for a second. She touched it, and it fell on top of her.”
Alysson fell to the ground and hit her head, and the 5-year-old's mom ran into the street to flag an ambulance, police said.

Emergency responders rushed the girl to Wyckoff Hospital where she later died, police said.
The city’s Department of Buildings issued a violation for failure to maintain the property to the homeowners and a partial vacate order, according to city records and the Post.
