6-Figure Income Required For 'Affordable' Bushwick Housing

Yet another batch of "affordable" Bushwick apartments with high income requirements hit the NYC housing lottery this week.

BUSHWICK, BROOKLYN — A batch of “affordably priced” apartments that hit the Brooklyn housing market require six-figure incomes to apply.

The four NYC Housing Connect apartments at 359 Linden St. cost about $2,000 a month and are available only to households earning up to $135,000 a year.

These are not the first apartments to hit the affordable housing lottery this year at prices that a small percentage of Brooklynites can afford.

Affordable units in new Crown Heights, Clinton Hill and two Bushwick buildings required six-figure incomes to apply, but city records show that about 55 percent of Brooklynites earn less than $60,000 a year.

The limited number of residents who do earn 130 percent of the area median income are welcome to apply for a one-bedroom or two-bedroom apartment on Linden Street near Wyckoff Avenue.
