Attempted Rapist Arrested For Bushwick Attack, Police Say

BUSHWICK, BROOKLYN — A Brooklyn man stands accused of tackling a woman, ripping off her clothes and trying to rape her in a Bushwick building lobby, according to police.

Christian Santiago, 33, was arrested Tuesday for attacking a 32-year-old woman he followed into a building on Myrtle and Central avenues on Sunday, July 7, about 12:15 a.m. police said.

Santiago allegedly tried to drag the woman into the basement after tearing off her clothes, but she fought him off, screamed and alerted nearby people who ran to help her, said police.

The would-be rapist fled the building and ran away down Central Avenue, police said.

Santiago, of East Williamsburg, was charged with rape, burglary and sex abuse Tuesday, according to police.
