BROOKLYN, NEW YORK — It's weekend time and that means it's time to break out your best Brooklyn behaviors. Hoping to see an organ made of fire? Yes, it is a thing. Need to dress your Great Dane up as Hamlet and march in a parade? You can. Want to roller disco like it’s 1982? We all do.
It’s all here in Brooklyn, and it’s happening this weekend.
Dreamland Roller Disco – Thriller
Neighborhood: Prospect Park
What: Skaters gather at Lola Star’s Dreamland Roller Disco’s themed skate parties dressed in their favorite glittering roller disco attire to perform a wide array of burlesque and carnival acts. This week’s theme is Thriller.

P.S. 309 Fall Fest & Touch-a-Truck
Neighborhood: Bed-Stuy
What: An wide range of trucks will be open for kids to explore and, on the street, there will be face painting, a pumpkin sale, food, crafts, music and more.
Where: Outside P.S. 309 at 794 Monroe St
When: 11 a.m. Saturday
Halloween Harvest Dog Parade & Costume Contest
Neighborhood: Coney Island
What: Bring your pup to Luna Park for the annual dog parade and costume contest. There will also be on-site adoption centers, in case you’re tempted.
Where: Luna Park at 1000 Surf Ave.
When: 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday

5th Annual Bed-Stuy Oktoberfest
Neighborhood: Bed-Stuy
What: The local craft beer bar Bed-Vyne will host its fifth annual Oktoberfest serving up cider, wine, food, music and, of course, craft beer.
Where: Bed-Vyne at 329 Gates Ave.
When: 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday
BRIC JazzFest Outdoor Concert
Neighborhood: Brooklyn Navy Yard
What: A free, outdoor Afro-Cuban jazz concert featuring the Pedrito Martinez Group.
Where: The Steps at 300 Ashland Place
When: 3 p.m. Saturday
Party Like It's 1999: That’s the Way Janet Goes Edition
Neighborhood: Gowanus
What: The Bell House will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of Janet Jackson’s album “The Velvet Rope” with a lot of Janet Jackson songs.
Where: The Bell House at 149 7th St.
When: 10 p.m. Saturday
Brooklyn Greenway Half Marathon
Neighborhoods: From Red Hook to Greenpoint and back again.
What: Cheer on (half) marathons and 5k-ers as they dash up the Brooklyn waterfront.
Where: Race starts at Columbia Street between Kane and Degraw streets
When: 5k begins at 8:30 a.m. Sunday and half marathon begins at 9:35 a.m.
“For Ahkeem” Screening
Neighborhood: Fort Greene
What: BAM is hosting a limited screening of this documentary, which details life in marginalized neighborhoods north St. Louis. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion on the School-to-Prison Pipeline.
Where: BAM Rose Cinemas at 30 Lafayette Ave.
When: 4:30 p.m. Sunday
Guerilla Science Presents: Fire Organ Soundscapes
Neighborhood: Williamsburg
What: Find the place where music and fire meet. This concert features a fire organ, designed and built by Guerilla Science, which visualizes music with flames.
Where: National Sawdust at 80 North Sixth St.
When: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday
Brooklyn Horror Fest
Neighborhood: Across Brooklyn
What: See horror films in this weekend-long film festival in cinemas across the borough, including the Alamo Drafthouse in downtown Brooklyn and Nighthawk in Williamsburg.
Where: As we said, across Brooklyn.
When: When you find a movie you like.
Open House New York
Neighborhoods: Across New York City
What: An annual event when the doors of the city’s more architecturally interesting (read weird and cool) buildings are opened to the public. Read the Patch guide here.
