Bushwick Center’s Fall Craft Program Brings Out Creativity
How One Very Well-Liked & Creative Resident is an Inspiration to Her Fellow Residents and Staff

Bushwick Center, the large 225-bed nursing and rehabilitation center on Sheffield Avenue in Bushwick is doing a facility-wide fall craft and art program whereby residents are creating “art for the season” for the nurse’s station. One of the eye-opening pieces to come out so far is from Bushwick Center resident Ms. Angel McNair who is also the Vice-President of the Resident Council there. Angel, 57, who happens to be diabetic and is so well-loved by her fellow residents and staff there, was born in Harlem and moved to the Brooklyn community of Starrett City when she was about 17 years old. Angel has her mother and a brother whom she speaks with these days, plus many friends at Bushwick Center. She is also very creative and very well-known within the walls of Bushwick Center.

“We love Angel here,” said Maria Machado, Director of Recreation at Bushwick Center. “She will always help and go out of her way for anyone, you have to admire this.”
Angel had a Medical Assistant Certificate in 1996 and the last job she worked in an Adult Group Home in Brooklyn as a Receptionist She often helps fellow residents with the computer. She enjoys writing speeches and reading them to the residents and staff.
