Bushwick Loses 3 B38 Stops But Gets Longer Buses: MTA
The Metropolitan Transit Authority will cut three Bushwick stops to allow longer buses along the route.

BUSHWICK, BROOKLYN — Bushwick will lose four bus stops as MTA officials work to speed up service on a notoriously unreliable route.
B38 buses — which run from Ridgewood to Downtown Brooklyn — will stop making stops at Kassuth Place, Bushwick Avenue and Cypress Avenue in Bushwick in September, according to a Community Board 2 announcement.
The cut in bus service will allow the MTA to send articulated buses — the 64-foot long buses with pivoting joints in the middle — along the route, which officials said will mean quicker and more comfortable rides.

The B38 line earned a D grade from the straphangers advocacy group Bus Turnaround Coalition, which found buses traveled at about 5.8 mph (slower than a subway rat can sprint), ran late almost half the time, and were highly prone to bunching.
Six Bushwick stops at St. Nicholas, Irving, Wilson, Myrtle, Evergreene and Bushwick avenues will be redesigned to accommodate the longer buses, the MTA said.

The Ashland Place stop in Fort Greene will also be cut, officials said.
Brooklynites can expect to see the new buses hitting city streets around Labor Day on Sept. 2, the MTA said.
