Bushwick Robbery Suspect Wielding Fake Gun Shot And Killed By Police
18-year-old Sergio Reyes was fatally shot after he allegedly pointed his imitation firearm at 3 officers in Bushwick, the NYPD said.

BUSHWICK, BROOKLYN — A Bushwick teen is dead after police officers shot and killed him early Sunday, the NYPD said. Eighteen-year-old Sergio Reyes allegedly robbed the Garden Deli at Irving Avenue and Starr Street in Bushwick using an imitation pistol, cops said.
Three officers from the 83rd precinct responded to a call of a robbery at gunpoint at around 12:40 a.m. They talked to witnesses and gathered evidence at the deli, the NYPD said.
"He put a gun next to my face, and he wanted to try to kill me, and he bought the four six-pack beer on top of counter… and he said, ‘Bag it up, please, I’m going to shoot you right now,'" the deli clerk told CBS 2.

The officers saw the suspect walking west on Starr Street, according to the NYPD. They "gave verbal commands and engaged the suspect in front of 169 Starr Street," said Chief of Patrol Terence A. Monahan. The suspect raised his black firearm toward the officers, and the officers fired at Reyes and struck him multiple times, Monahan said. NYPD officials have since said the pistol was fake. The teen was taken to Woodhull Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation is ongoing, and the NYPD has still not identified the official suspect of the robbery, Monahan said. The NYPD released a surveillance photo of the suspect robbing the deli and a photo of the fake firearm recovered at the scene.
