Bushwick's Cafe Ghia Will Close At The End Of April, Owners Say
Owners Anna D'Agrosa and Scott McGibney announced Café Ghia would close on Facebook Monday morning.

BUSHWICK, BROOKLYN — Cafe Ghia, a beloved Bushwick brunch spot, will permanently shutter its doors at the end of April, its owners announced Monday.
“Cafe Ghia will be closing on April 30 after six years (and millions of eggs),” wrote owners Anna D’Agrosa and Scott McGibney in a co-signed letter posted on Facebook early Monday morning.
“Our hope is that we were able to provide a good place to work, a cozy safe place to relax, a great meal, a smile on a rough day.”

Cafe Ghia sits on the corner of Jefferson Street and Irving Avenue and has been serving brunch Monday through Sunday since 2011, according to its website.
McGibney — who also owns the local coffee shop The Wyckoff Starr — named the cafe after his car, a 1970 Karmann Ghia which he still drives, according to the cafe website.

The owners did not specify why they decided to close the cafe and declined to comment further, but a Cafe Ghia employee who did not give her name said the decision was not a financial one.
“The owners are just going in different directions in their lives,” she said.
The announcement, which was first reported by Bushwick Daily, spurred several of the cafe's regular patrons to bemoan the loss.

How could Cafe Ghia be closing? They had notoriously long waits to just get a brunch table every weekend. https://t.co/W3kuKqJeMM

D’Agrosa and McGibney included a message to their regular customers in the announcement of their closing.
“It has been an absolute honor to meet and get to know you all,” the co-owners wrote. “We are proud of the work we all did and the community that was created here.”
